SHELF BRACKET FINISHES:
Item is built and prepped to our specs prior to receiving a paint finish…cleaned with alcohol and wrapped in paper. They are not “sealed”, however.
Items selected for “paint-ready” may have some metal discoloration in varying shades of grays, blues and browns (rust staining). None are guaranteed nor unlikely. Rust stain is not rusting metal however, if left unprotected, they can and will show signs of rust in humid locations over time but indoors and out of humid conditions can go years without showing rust.
Re-prep prior to painting by wiping entire surface with a light rag or T-shirt, lightly damped with isopropyl alcohol. Paint once dry. Paint-ready brackets can be powder-coated by your vendor of choice.
is a transparent paint and modern finish and is appropriate for all applications. Clear coat provides an authentic look since the character of the metal is fully visible throughout. Can be used as an interior or exterior finish.
is an opaque paint finish that provides a soft and even appearance. This finish is highly durable. Can be used as an interior or exterior finish.
is an opaque paint finish that adds just the right amount of sheen to blend with most black finishes elsewhere in the home. This finish is highly durable. Can be used as an interior or exterior finish.
Q: Why paint and not powdercoat?
A: Although powdercoat may have a few degrees of durability over paint, it is not impervious to minor damage. If it is scratched to the metal, a powdercoated piece of steel will rust just as much as a painted one IF NOT MORE!!! Why? Powdercoat rests right on top of the metal surface...if it suffers a scratch and is not immediately repaired any water the scratch comes in contact with can get beneath the powdercoat and thus begin the rust process and even if the scratch is repaired sometime later, the protection offered by powdercoat has now trapped the corroding metal which will continue causing rust and flaking paint.
With paint, the scratch could also rust but paint gets into the microscopic and imperfect metal surface which can help seal off the damage but if not you can still easily sand, repair and touch up the damage. With powdercoat, sanding the coating is a more arduous task, so much more work.
